SpaceX

Phenolic-Impregnated Carbon Ablator (PICA) Inspection Project

The Dragon Ship capsule uses a PICA-X heat shield, based on a proprietary variant of NASA's Phenolic Impregnated Carbon Ablator (PICA) material, designed to protect the capsule during Earth atmospheric entry, even at high return velocities from Lunar and Martian missions.

PDE has been engaged as technical specialists sitting on the Advanced Technology Integration Committee (ATIC) since 2017, assisting in the creation of advanced inspection techniques both during the production and maintenance phases for PICA.

EDF

Saint Nazaire & FECAMP Wind Farms

The St. Nazaire and FECAMP projects consist of 80 & 71 Offshore Wind Turbines with a unit capacity of 6 MEGAWATTS (MW) for a total power output of 480 MW & 500 MW respectively.

PDE was contracted from 2018- 2021, initially to provide remote quality and technical consultancy for document reviews. This evolved into PDE providing site management, quality and inspection services for the Offshore Sub-Station package (Topside and Jacket) for both projects.

UK Ministry of Defence

Warrior & Challenger 2 upgrades

Team Challenger 2, a consortium of companies led by Babcocks DSG & BAE/RBSL Systems, signed a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) for the Challenger 2 Life Extension Project (LEP) Assessment Phase.

PDE has been engaged since 2018 to provide technical consultancy for the advanced inspection of complex geometries and dissimilar materials inherent in these advanced machines' designs.
